Browning Rodeo

Browning Rodeo

Browning, Montana is East of Glacier National Park and every July it hosts a Rodeo as well as the North American Indian Days PowWow.  To photograph a Rodeo successfully one needs to use a high shutter speed as well as taking a burst of photos to capture the moment that shows the “action”. Photographing is the easy part, riding these broncs takes a lot of skill and toughness. I always wonder how these cowboys can take the beating week after week, they obviously really love the sport.

Peyto Lake in the Canadian Rockies

Peyto Lake in the Canadian Rockies

During the summer, significant amounts of glacial rock flour flow into the lake, and these suspended rock particles give the lake a bright, turquoise color. I will definately return to this location for anther try in early morning light.

This will be the last image posted from our Alaska trip, now on to local photos. Thanks again to all of our family and friends for following our journey North. A very special thank you to Jim and Bunny for taking care of everything at home.

Passing by our Truck

Passing by our Truck

I had to quickly leave my camera on the tripod and get into the truck as they were coming in close and very fast. Now the rest of the story, you will have to visualize the pictures. The hunting party of 4 headed up a drainage climbing quite high in the distance, they encountered a Sow Grizzly and it’s Yearling Cub. What were they thinking of? The Cub headed for higher ground  and the Sow charged the Wolves scattering them in all directions, surely they were just being inquisitive and got too close so she made the charge. The Wolves trotted on across the ridge presumably looking for Dall Sheep. We never saw the pack again that day.
