While hiking along the Brushkana River a family came down the river on kayaks, both adults kayaks were filled with gear for camping and the two children were wearing helmets, great to see a family out enjoying the outdoors, it sure looked like fun. They came around the corner so fast I missed the first kayak .
Spectacular scenery between Paxson and Cantwell, would be nice to spend some more time in the area either at sunrise or sunset, rather than mid-day, considering this portion a scouting trip, would be magnificient with fall colors, and no hunters.
This Grizzly Bear Cub caught a fishing lure in it’s nose, not sure how, looks like it will easily get it dislodged and be fine. Two sow’s in the river fishing one with 3 cubs, one with 2, both sow’s had large ugly collars on them.
We arrived in Denali last night, had a great drive up the Alaska hwy, stopping in Haines for a night. Decided to drive the Denali Highway from Paxson to Cantwell and found the scenery absolutely beautiful, did have some Caribou but they were very skittish as it was hunting season. Found all the campgrounds full in Denali last night, got a spot tonight and reservations for the remainder were made in advance. Rained heavy all day today, put on raincoats and went for a small hike, looks like our timing is perfect, bushes are just starting to have some red/orange leaves. No photos to post yet. The big news is we have a new granddaughter born last Monday and everyone is doing fine. If you are coming to. Denali soon bring good rain gear, you will need it.
